Sustainable Platform

Cleaner Planet

Sustainable Platform S.r.l. has invested in two Italian fashion brands – Themoirè and OOF Wear – operating in the sustainable fashion sector:

Themoirè (Milan) designs and distributes handbags made from sustainable and innovative materials. The products, crafted using organic waste (such as palm and pineapple) and recycled materials, provide a tangible response to the environmental impact of the fashion industry, one of the most polluting sectors in the world.

OOF Wear (Treviso) specializes in outerwear and stands out for the creation and distribution of reversible coats, jackets, and puffers, combining creativity and sustainability.

Impact

Problem

The fashion industry is the third most polluting sector globally, contributing to approximately 10% of total pollution. Alongside this environmental issue, there is a widespread social problem: the exploitation of workers in economically disadvantaged countries, where a significant portion of the sector’s production takes place.

The environmental impact of fashion stems from production, distribution, and disposal processes, each of which significantly contributes to CO₂ emissions and environmental degradation. Large areas of Latin America, for example, have become “open-air landfills” due to unsustainable waste disposal practices.

Social challenges are deeply rooted in the sector; in order to keep production costs low, manufacturing is often outsourced to countries like Bangladesh, where exploitative labor practices are common. Although some mass-market brands are making strides toward a more sustainable model, mainly by replacing synthetic materials with virgin ones, this approach remains limited as it continues to generate pollution during production.

Impact Mission

To reduce the massive amount of pollution and social issues caused by the fashion industry.

Each brand, within its respective market segment, offers sustainable and attractive items to standard fashion products by using innovative and eco-friendly materials, many of which are not yet widely adopted in the industry.
